Scholarship

The T.P. NYIAJ POV FOUNDATION was established to advance the education of the young generations of the Hmong people, both in the United States and abroad; and particularly to assist qualified individuals in the study of the Hmong people and culture by establishing and administering scholarship funds for that purpose.

  • For the academic year 2009-2010 two scholarships are available for a total amount of USD $4,000.00. Each scholarship is offered to an individual in a graduate or post-graduate degree program, at a recognized university or college, which includes a major or a minor in studies directly related to the Hmong people and/or language and culture. Applications are not limited to the U.S.A. All relevant academic programs will be considered. The successful applicant will already have completed a minimum of one year in postsecondary studies, and provide proof of academic excellence over a period of two years.

    • Applications must be written in English or French or Hmong (RPA Alphabet). 3.

    • Closing date for applications is April 15, 2009. Applications must include the requested documentation and be sent by mail to the address indicated above.

    • All questions must be answered or marked “not applicable” (please print or type).

    • Selection is based on academic merit, contribution to school and/or community—especially Hmong communities—, and an indication of academic promise. Two letters of reference should substantiate these elements. 5.

    • The selection is made by the T.P. NYIAJ POV FOUNDATION. No appeal will be admitted.

    • Only the successful applicant will be advised following the end of April 2009 meeting of Selection Committee set up by the Foundation.
